BendonAdams teamed up with local Aspen architecture firm Rowland + Broughton to facilitate small group meetings and design charrettes, elevate community dialogue on architectural design, and to overhaul Aspen’s Commercial, Lodging and Historic District Design Guidelines. Sara facilitated individual meetings with design professionals and elected officials, synchronized the guidelines with the Zoning Code, developed a new approval process, re-drew neighborhood boundaries, and provided a user-friendly graphic layout with example images and “cheat sheets” for each neighborhood. The Guidelines were adopted in the Spring of 2017 and were recently awarded a Merit Award from the Colorado Chapter of the American Planning Association.
