A redevelopment of an existing gas station, this dynamic commercial building is proposed on State Highway 82 and within Aspen’s Main Street Historic District. Adjacent to a mid-20th century designated historic landmark and surrounding by 19th century designated historic landmarks, a sensitive design solution was imperative for this complex and highly visible property. BendonAdams guided the design process providing constructive design feedback to the client and Modif Architecture, working with City departments to address technical concerns, and presenting the project to City Staff and the Historic Preservation Commission. BendonAdams successfully gained setback variances and a floor area increase for commercial space for the project. The project is fully entitled.
